Already did as of May 1st, I believe, but ROH has a 90 day non-compete clause so he'll be able to sign with WWE in August.

Word is that the final for the Women's Tournament is going to be at a Smackdown taping, which is an awful decision

 

If it's going to take place anywhere outside of it's own bubble, it should be at a Takeover. With our luck it'll go on between Mojo v. Jinder and an arm wrestling segment in Corpus Christi.

 

Ill disagree. The CW's feel completely seperate from RAW because, in truth, they never wrestled for anyone but Full Sail. When they debuted on RAW, Id bet 80-90% of the audience hadnt seen most of them. So to say "these 8 people are great" is tough.

Whereas if Smackdown is hyping the womens finals, doing recaps of the previous weeks results, etc, fans have more of a reason to buy in. Especially if they know the finals is happening on Smackdown.

 

This will be fine if and only if they do substantial coverage of it on Smackdown/RAW. Because if they don't, and assuming that the finals are between wrestlers we haven't really seen (ie. at or below the level of recognition that like, Lacey Evans has), the crowd would probably be significantly worse than the Full Sail crowd.


Also it's unclear (at least I think) if it's going to be a dark match at the taping or going to actually be on Smackdown. Either of those are less than optimal IMO.



it really just makes more sense to do another Takeover and have this be one of the more hyped up matches. It'll make the tournament feel more significant and it'll be good exposure. That's the overall best case scenario, but the best case scenario that's also easiest to do (ie not having to worry about scheduling) is just doing it at Full Sail.

 

I get the desire to make things part of Takeover, but, Smackdown gets probably 3-4x the viewers each week. The Womens tourney final main eventing a smackdown (or even better, doing the semis/finals like they did the CW) would make it a much bigger deal than any Takeover ever could.

The CW's tore down the damn house in their tourney. There is nothing, in terms or presentation or match quality, that they could have done better. And they were pretty quickly met with silence on RAW. So everything they can do to make it part of the main shows, the better. Have the semis/finals on Smackdown, with the winner being #1 contender for Smackdown Womens title. Have the women who dont win put into a draft the next week, etc.

Im just hoping they learn their lesson; the tourney will be awesome, but if everyone cools off the second it ends, what does it really do for the WWE?

 

Meltzer seems to be implying that HHH and Angle is definitely the angle they are going for.

Seems likely. I think they wanted to hold it off until WM, but the SS is really lacking at the moment. His Mania match is going to have to be bigger than that though. Maybe he screws Brock over and they have a program or something.

 

Mike Bennett and Maria will be backstage at MitB and the subsequent SD taping.

Reddit rumor that Maria will be in the women's match and win.
