it took me like 10 years to listen to Something Corporate because I found If U C Jordan so whiny and awful

 

I listened to Something Corporate because I really liked Dashboard Confessional and got SC mixed up with Further Seems Forever or whatever it was called.

 

If u c Jordan is so bad. I love that song haha

 

A few Leaving Through The Window tracks don't hold up too well, but every full-length Andrew McMahon album ranges from "good" to "classic." Everything in Transit is 10/10.

 

I woke up in a car, hurricane, and ruthless are my favorite soco songs.

I remember the first time I heard Cavanaugh Park though. Damn. I got into LTTW before EIT really hit me as hard as it did

 

EIT is the only full album (maybe North too) that I really like by him. Didn't listen to anything past The Glass Passenger

 

Is it weird that I thought The National was British the first time I heard them?

His mumbling baritone voice certainly at least takes a lot of U.K. influence. You hear that depth in a lot of British male vocalists but in America that's become a lot more rare since the days of Cash and Sinatra haha.

 

I could definitely understand mistaking him for British at first, there's definitely a similiarity between him and Ian Curtis or Morrissey as far as vocal styles go. Maybe even a little of Alex Turner too.

 

I definitely thought he was British at first. Who else but the British would sing baritone indie rock in a suit while drinking white wine?

 

for whatever reason I don't like Matt's voice, even though I like Paul Banks and Ian Curtis who I know are similar

 

Matt's voice is one of my favorite things.

 

Incoming controversial opinion: the only rap/hip-hop that I can tolerate in any capacity is from the 80s and early 90s, and even then only very select songs and artists.

Just never liked it. I can respect Its cultural significance and such but musically the style of music does nothing for me. I've always been a rock and metal guy.

 

Weird the entire style of music does nothing for you when there's a ridiculous amount of variety

 

Not really. There's people who hate metal, country, pop, rock, etc....why is not liking rap/hip hop so weird?
