TBH I'm happy Laurie was alive. I didn't fully buy her suicide.

Yeah, it seemed odd, but it would have worked for me. Love that daddy was still kicking.

Still want someone's take on it, though.

Maybe, like Nora, she changed her mind.

Anyone have a good take on why Kevin really pretended nothing happened, other than plot device? I guess maybe mentally he had to try to erase it all because he didn't know what else to do after however long it took to find her

When he told himself that they fucked up with Nora, I think he was just trying to start fresh.

I think they were both in the afterlife though...

Everything lol where and why and the 2 percent 98 percent perspective. Just reading it out will help me process my own thoughts better.

  9. Not exactly what I expected, but it felt right. I love this series so much.

Give Lindelof an Emmy for best PR

In the article linked above, Lindelof offers up one possible explanation involving Kevin needing to construct a belief system where he and Nora can start a-new instead of him just waltzing in an apologizing straight off the bat. He goes on to suggest that Kevin needed to do this in order to formulate a belief system that would "allow" him and Nora to get back together. She ultimately rejects it because its untrue.

    Yep, really great ending.

As for the season as a whole -- probably my least favorite.

My biggest question is after all of these years, how is Kevin still only given two weeks of paid time off!?!?

I'm in the camp that thinks Nora made up the story.

But I may feel differently in the morning.

She rejects things as being untrue ("a dance" "it's a wedding" / Kevin's Australia vacation story) all throughout the episode and refuses to connect while they're untrue. So it'd be kinda baffling for her to allow Kevin's truth to begin their connection again and lie to him.

I also didn't consider the possibility Nora was lying until I saw it posited elsewhere after the episode.

A part of me thinks it's still possible that they're in Nora's afterlife. Kevin did mention having a big heart attack...

I'm in the camp that she was making it up. The act of lying was such a big theme in the final episode -- from the opening scene where she says she doesn't lie, to the whole thing with the motorcycle rider and the nun. And I can't shake the line the nun says when Nora is talking about how the birds delivering the lovers' messages is a bullshit story: "It's a better story."

But it's interesting reading Lindelof's interview and how he talks about the whole process of coming up with that. From them wanting to film her in the other world, to the author saying they can't film it, to the writers all discussing whether or not it actually happened.

Either way, a great ending to a great show. I was expecting a mindfuck and instead it was a simple, understated ending with just enough lingering mystery.

Changed my plans to watch the finale tonight. I believe Nora. I also teared up a whole lot

    Fuck.

After sitting with it for an hour, I'm now 90% sure she made it up. It would be very uncharacteristic of the show to let her get those answers but it would be very characteristic of the show for her and Kevin to find comfort in her made up story.
