Tower of Gehnji has not left my mind since I read it, might be my favorite series moment at this time.

Update on A Memory of Light I haven't had much time to read but I'm halfway and it continues to blow my mind with every page.

Yeah that stuff was seriously so cool. It blew my mind that Noal is Jain Farstrider. Also crazy about Matt's eye.
I'm still on the prologue for A Memory of Light and I'm loving Talmanes. I always liked him and enjoyed his stuff with Matt, but he is a freaking bad ass. Also The Town is one of the most interesting things in this series IMO

I knew there was something about Noal the second he was introduced, I figured he was going to be a darkfriend or something along those line. Yeah Talmanes is super great in that prologue. Haha, yeah The Town was amazing, I really badly want more chapters there. I'm glad Mat survived because I did not think he was getting out of the Tower. Also Perrin's battles with Slayer and the dreamspike are just mindblowing

Oh my god I am so sad (spoiler halfway through LB, it's a big one so stay away) I can't believe Siuan died, seriously heartbroken, maybe 30 pages ago when she gave Egwene the speech about how proud of her she was and then openly kissed Byrne, I was thinking about New Spring and how far Siuan has come and how her MORE THAN ANY OTHER CHARACTER deserves happiness. Looking back I'm sure Sanderson did that on purpose...What an asshole. I'm so attuned to horror literature I should have seen that coming.

Finished that chapter. I'll have more to say when I'm done with the book, but omfg that was like the best 200 pages ever, absolutely perfect. I'll be reading for another hour but probably won't finish it today.

I hated Demandred so much and I was so disappointed by that. He felt like a caricature compared to all the other Forsaken up to that point.

Haha, I loooooooved that, like so much. I'm obsessed with those ridiculously over the top, evil as fuck villains though. I was trying to think about what it was that you didn't like and I was thinking it might have been Nynaeve taking such a backseat (she was obviously super important, but not much was written about her)

Nah. That role was 100% in character for her. Sitting here getting mad over Demandred all over again.

Oh yeah it was perfect, just thought you might miss her. I missed Perrin. I literally think that Demandred is going to go away as one of my favorites, the way they just kept sending all these people, Gawyn, Galad, Logain and he just destroyed them was so awesome. I also love that the Shara showed up. If you recall, I mentioned awhile ago when I read that companion book that one of my biggest wishes was to see Shara. I knew I wasn't going to get that, but I love that they're still involved. Same with the male Aiel that got turned to the Shadow.

I definitely smiled reading you saying you wanted that knowing exactly when they showed up. I have no problem with over the top, evil villains. Demandred just was built up to be something entirely different than how he was when he appeared. And he wouldn't have been affected by the tainting of saidin so that wasn't a logical place to say it caused his madness.

Ha, it's going to be fun to do that to other people once I'm done. Looking forward to it. Imagine what it's going to be like when the tv series comes out... I think that's what I've always seen Demandred as. From the beginning all he wanted was to kill Lews Therin, nothing else, enough to risk stealing the kill from the Dark One. I don't blame the taint for his madness at all, I blame the fact that his entire existence for centuries has been based around the lust for revenge and nothing more. It made sense to me that he would make a stage like that during the Last Battle, taunting Rand with everything he has. It was certainly stupid of him, he should have known that Rand would be locked in a battle with the Dark One, but I get what led him to that

Ugh, it's on my mind so much at work, I was reading a weather report over the radio and I said "shadow" instead of "showers," ha

My slow read of book 3 continues on. But things have really heated up, so I think I will probably be much speedier getting to the end. I think I only have 13 chapters left.

I finished. It was perfect. I loved it. Very broken-hearted about Egwene, my guess was that Perrin would be the one to die, she was probably at the bottom of my list of possibilities. Really powerful final moments with Logain. I love Lanfear's position in the end. I honestly just loved everything and could just start naming everything that happened.

I was wrong in how I guessed it would end. Figured it would be a stedding with Loial looking back at the battle writing his book. Their ending was better, ha. I was really surprised that they managed to hold off from having an overextended resolution. I feel like I learned everything I needed to know in the Epilogue. Rand deserved that ending. Like he really, really did. I hope he plans on telling Tam eventually though. I was wondering if we were going to see Elaida again, but that ending really was best for her.

@Garrett L. I have a pretty crazy map where I kept track of the last battle, if you're interested in taking a look I can scan it. It's gibberish but might be fun to look at, ha.

    Just finished book 3.

Now, I need to determine if I want to keep going with book four, or take a break and start book 2 of Dark Tower.

Ok, so book 4 is where all the damn names, places, etc. are really losing me. The whole thing with Rand stepping through and seeing the Aiel past. I am honestly not sure if I have any idea what the heck is going on anymore haha, but it seems important.

Hopefully things will clear up? Who the hell knows.

I am just not sure I am following the names and places, especially the historic parts. Especially with an audiobook where sometimes my attention drifts for a hot minute and then I am stuck. I try to recap via chapter summaries, but I am worried that there are things I am supposed to know / react to that I just don't haha.

    Was just messing with you.

I can definitely see how it would be confusing in an audiobook. See if you can carve out an hour and go read that chapter in a bookstore or something. My favorite chapter in the entire series.

What's important is that you understand the Aiel's history and why they live in the Three Fold Lands, all those names thrown at you aren't "important." There's a little more explanation as it goes along. The time with the Aiel was my hardest time with names and stuff in the series, but the ones worth remembering you'll remember. The series widens for a very large time before it starts focusing.

Am I correct in this (roughly): (1) The Aiel were associated with the Aes Sedai, prior to the breaking of the world, and (2) then were charged with carrying around / hiding the powerful objects from men who could channel, and (3) as they traveled, being the victims of violence slowly lead to them leaving behind the way of the leaf, which resulted in a splintering off (hence the Tinkerers)?[/spoilers]
