The rest of it was just as boring

joyride had like two songs i jammed too, including that like cheesy slow song that was catchy as shit

fuck that band so hard though, listen and forgive is so important to me but all the shit they pulled on their farewell tour is unforgivable

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

My two answers for worst albums I've listened to all the way through this decade have already been discussed in this thread: Refused and the TWIABP spoken word atrocity. Seeing TWIABP live around the time that came out was br00tal.

that tour was really good though, posture and rozwell and hotelier. and they killed it musically but the songs...woof
i think we only got like three spoken word songs though

    No Fun. Not Ever.

I'm honestly trying to think of the worst albums I've heard recently, and I honestly can't think of any. Granted, if they sucked, I probably just forgot about them.

The latest Refused album is fantastic. I'm prepared to die on this hill - it's brilliant.

Wheelhouse is one of very few albums to ever make me angry listening to it. idk my mom really really likes Brad Paisley, as well as Kenny Chesney and some of the other pre-bro country singers, so i hear his music all the time around the house. "Accidental Racist" really sent me over the edge. idk who comes off worse in that song, Brad Paisley or LL Cool J. "If you dont judge my gold chains, ill forget the iron chains"

oh it is my friend, IT IS. LL Cool J sings it, which makes it even more offensive because im sure he was pressured into saying that since i dont think anyone with a reasonable understanding of what the Civil War/Slavery entailed would say something like that. but theres a lot of other moments in that song that are very, very troubling. "When i put on that confederate flag shirt, all i meant to say was im a Skynard fan" like ok maybe you should acknowledge that Ronnie Van Zant and the rest of the band when Ronnie was alive stopped using the flag because they realized how offensive it could be. "if you dont judge my doo-rag, i wont judge your red flag" like ok lets not pretend that this flag was just some innocuous symbol that existed before the civil war, the Confederate Flag was made specifically by the south as a battle cry of "we dont want things to change, we want to keep our slaves and our land". theres more to it and Paisley hasnt really apologized for it, nor does he apologize in the song, he basically says hes "colorblind" and all people are capable of hate and blah blah blah.

When you hit a mothafucka, you hit that mothafucka Prestigious

Kinda relevant to the last page and also very unpopular:

I cannot sit through a whole Bob Dylan album. I am so serious. It's not that I don't think lyrics matter, his stories are phenomenal, but in his case I'd rather just read them!

It's like song after song of 8 minutes of the same 3 chords and him singing out of key the entire time. I just, I can't. My enjoyment of music is very tethered to detail and variety in the moods and melodies expressed - he's the antithesis of what I look for, sonically, even if I respect his writing and the purpose /cultural impact of it overall.

Now Leonard Cohen I can get into but I've never thought that was a fair comparison, especially since Cohen never alienated his fans with an electric guitar either.

If I have to think of the worst album I've heard this decade it's probably Angel Guts: Red Classroom from Xiu Xiu who I love otherwise

idk what the last thing I actively disliked was. The new blink deluxe edition was bad I guess. I don't like Beach Slang's corny ass lyrics either

LL Cool J sucks, fun fact Kool Thing by Sonic Youth was at least partially inspired by a super misogynistic interview between him and Kim
‘Kool Thing’: Kim Gordon’s 1989 interview with LL Cool J that inspired the Sonic Youth song

    The rivalry is back on

The Velvet Underground/Lou Reed is another where I understand/appreciate what they're doing but can't sit through an album because the vocals are so unpleasant.
