Saw it twice in theaters, also one of my favorite films. Can't wait for a bluray release so I can watch it a bunch more.

watched Get Out today. good flick.

but what i can't get out of my mind is that the grandma gets a new lease on life! a new, younger, healthy body! and all she does is stay the fucking cleaning lady? that's all she does with her time in a new body is clean her daughter's house? talk about living on the edge! (and grandpa is kind of the same, just doing yard work and wood splitting between night runs) :crylaugh:

I'm thinking that was for show. I mean, maybe they WANTED to do chores because of their new physical health. I can't imagine the family treats them as help in normal circumstances.

i can see that. but then i'm also like, "why bother having her as cleaning help? why not just a friend of the family?"

just a minor thought that made me laugh when looking at the overall idea / story.

also i still can't get over how fucking weird the brother was. looked just like Macaulay Caulkin. why not just hire him for the role, damn.

No I think they were just acting like housekeepers while Chris was over there.

That's why I wasn't confused, I couldn't find anything about it online besides the band. Blood Diner is fun

So..The howling wasn't bad, but I was expecting better.

Just finished Hounds of love. Superb acting and direction. It was one hell of a slow burn.

Coherence was ok I guess. Maybe it's cause I've been trying to remember to watch this movie for like two years now but I was pretty disappointed. The concept was really cool but my biggest problem is that the characters were insufferable. I think it would have worked better as a 45 minute episode of TV. This is the third indie movie I have seen in recent times (the other two being You're Next and The Invitation) where a group of people get together and some weird shit happens and the first 30 minutes or so just consist of these "characters" hanging out and arguing or being confused. There's almost nothing substantial that happens in the first act and certainly no real character development, it's just there to pad the runtime and it's not interesting.

@Cory Curious if you've seen Howl or Wer, and where they rank in your top 5? Werewolf movies for the most part to me are just bad but for some reason I really enjoyed those.

Also this is more scifi but has some horror elements, but this is the teaser for the series of short films by the District 9 director.

I love all of those movies you mentioned and that sort of "hanging out" is one of my favourite conventions if the characters are interesting. In these three movies, they totally were

I'm okay with the concept, but in all of these movies I found a lot of the characters to be annoying and they all felt like they were acting to me. I like The Invitation and You're Next as well, it's just that aspect that kinda brings them down for me.

You're right, if those character dynamics don't feel real to you it can pretty much be a deal breaker in those kinds of movies. I know Coherence's dialogue was almost entirely improvised, and knowing the people in You're Next, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case there too for that first half. That's not to say the improv is proof of those dynamics working. If the actors can't pull it off, it would feel even more forced and "acted" than scripted lines, but in these cases it worked for me

I would have so much anxiety at that top of the pool closing that I'd have an attack and drown and die right then and the movie would be 5 minutes long. Screw thaaaaaat

It's seriously always been an irrational fear of mine. Drowning is bad enough...but this? Ugh.

I was already excited for 47 Meters Down. With this coming out too, I can't complain about this year's movies. Not sure the janitor needs to be there though, wonder where they'll go with that
