I was going to try to hold out and upgrade when the new ones launch this year, but my roommate's cat spilled water on my 2011 15" Pro and I had to buy the maxed out 13" back in November. I thought going from a Quad-core i7 to a dual-core i5 would maybe be a bit of a step back when using Garageband and iMovie, but the new PCI SSD's in these are absolutely ridiculous. Completely makes up for any comparative lack in processing power.

I'm kind of bummed now that the new stuff is going to be launching - it's felt really nice to have the "latest and greatest" thing for once.

 

I love the 12.9 IPP. I was holding a regular sized iPad yesterday and thought it was the mini! Crazy how you adjust to the size.

With the 6s+ getting 2gb of RAM I think I'll have no issues waiting until the 7s+ or whatever they're going to call it.

I feel like this years 7 may be a bummer with all the hype in 2017...but I guess we'll wait and see.

 

Yeah, following up on that. I've had it a week and I'm totally into the IPP. I'm going to stick with it. It's freaking perfect for meetings and allows me to leave my macbook docked to my two monitors at my desk.

 

Not sure if this is the right thread for this but perhaps someone might be able to help me out. I do a lot of traveling from the US to Canada, and one of the problems I face is that when I turn off iMessage on my iPhone when leaving Canada, any messages that are sent to me via iMessage just get stored in my computer till I come back and open it. As you can imagine, this is incredibly frustrating, since I'll go hours or longer without seeing these messages. However, I can't turn off iMessage on my Mac, as the option to deselect my phone number as an iMessage recipient is unclickable both on the Mac and iPhone Basically, I just want all incoming iMessages to get pushed to SMS (where I have a international text plan that can receive them) since I'm without data and not connected to wifi constantly. Anyone have any advice for this?

So my wife is teaching a class to undergrads today and while she was waiting for it to start she was listening to them speak. Some girl said if you update your iPhone to much it will ruin it. So you shouldn't do every update.

 

Am I the only one who has had strange wifi and Apple TV connection issues after upgrading to OS X 10.11.4? I've seen reports that El Cap has caused airplay issues for many.

It would make me laugh if it has something to do with their new security measures.

I say that as someone who spent a couple months re-writing software to meet their new requirements and has since refused to update anything but their work laptop.

 

Really hope the one-handed mode works well, I've heard good things about their correction and prediction and haven't found a decent one-handed keyboard for my 6s+ yet. I really miss Swiftkey's ability to resize and reposition the keyboard on Android.

 

My brother ruined his windows phone and switched to an iPhone and this was the first thing he said he wanted. Must be good.

 

I really like Swiftkey right now, but I'm definitely curious to check this one out. Signed up, so hopefully they will send me a download.

 

I have a Macbook 15 inch 2009 model. I'm trying to connect a Microphone (XLR) to my mac with no luck so far. I have a XLR to Mic input adapter but no sound comes through when I use Audacity. Guessing I need a mixer and what else?

 

Anybody having issues with their cameras/photos? Took a picture and didn't show up in my photos. Tried to delete photos and caused the app to crash without deleting.

 

Does anyone read ibooks on their iphone 6? Looking for reviews. Not sure if I should buy a paper copy or electronic copy of the NOFX book.

 

I've done kindle books. It's ok. I prefer real book or iPad over the iPhone but it's not terrible.

 

If you have the option between iBooks and a Kindle device, I go kindle. But if I didn't have a Kindle, I would always get iBooks. They have a lot of good font and lighting options.

I meant to say I recommend the kindle app over iBooks.

 

I have two different iPhone 6 - one for personal and one for work. Does any one know how to keep them from getting texts and calls to both? I dont want personal texts/calls to come to my work phone and vise versa. I cant remember how to do it and its killing me haha

 

Are they both using the same icloud account?

 

No, I created a separate Apple ID for the work phone.

 

Anyone have issues with plugging in your iPhone 6 to an apple charger?

Periodically when I go to synch/backup mine to my iMac it will repeatedly connect and disconnect. My wife's phone has done the same when plugging it in to go to bed at night.

A lot of time I will also get an error message like something with my carrier needs to be updated for the phone.

That being said I use some after market one for my bed and work and I never have the issue with that cord.

 

Since I had to do a system restore on my phone, slowly I find apps I need to re-download. One app I think was called "wood camera" that I purchased $$ looks like it no longer exists?? Every app I previously downloaded in the past has a cloud and also shows up on my iTunes when I open it. This app is no where to be found. Anyone have had this issue with apps before?

 

I was having sort of a similar problem, and it turned out there was just a bunch of lint in my charging port.
