What does Yellowcard have to do with surf music? They're pretty pop-punk through and through, no? I never considered them in that genre.

I agree. But I love the idea of adding a nonrock instruments to punkish style music.

Disagree. Like, should I stop saying righteous? No. We are ahead of the times. It's the youths that are wrong.

Non rock instruments with punkish music makes me think of this Everyone Everywhere song which is essentially ska for sad people

Wow, this is so obvious now that you say it haha.

Well I agree with both the surf music comment and that it would be sweet to see more bands with non-traditional instruments.

I'd put an oar in for Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!!) and Love You in addition to the ones people have mentioned. Nothing they ever did was quite to the PS level, but I love a lot of their records.

Not sure if this is popular or unpopular, but this is a quality thread for bitching:

What kind of unlistenable, whale-noises-if-they-made-you-want-to-die garbage is Moses Sumney?

Moses Sumney is amazing. I've seen him live twice. He has an incredible voice and I think he's super creative. His song with Thundercat is a stunner and I think everyone in here should listen to it!

It's going to take some time after how awful I thought he was at Boston Calling before I can approach him with any sort of objectivity. But I will try and remember to do so.

Like this song gives me some hope that he can be something great. I enjoy his quirky one man band stuff that he does live, but hearing Thundercat's bass and a more full instrumental sound to go along with his voice is really special. Labels have been approaching him for like three years now and he's still holding out, I think until his full length is done. Should be interesting to hear where he takes his sound.
