  1. Haha, I've heard that a lot too. No one having student loan debt helps all of us though. I mean, I can make the argument for almost anyone but from a selfish standpoint .... no student loan debt means more people can be website supporters! ... haha ... but I think there's a direct economic benefit to everyone to pull everyone out of debt.

    No.

If I have to pay, everyone has to pay.

    I'm petty.

I wouldn't even care if I somehow paid my student loans off and they ended up forgiving a lot of people. It would help so many people. I would love it if my kids could go to school without having to take out a small business loan to do so.

If it's not fixed by the time they go to school I have to hope that they can get into college on their educational merits, because I'll probably still owe 125,000 dollars in student loans by then with all the interest and fees accrued over the next 17 years.

Student Loans + Cancer + Being 22 Years Old + Teacher Salary = Working Until I Die

I've accepted it, but I want more for my children. I don't want them to be scared to get a higher education.

I keep thinking of all these quotes I've heard over the years on why this is my fault.

"Should have picked a better career."

I love my job and cannot stress enough much it infuriates me when I hear people say something like that.

I mean, obviously I don't wish student loan debt on anyone, including future generations. Like I said in an earlier post, our generation is going to be the shit-luck generation who got stuck in the decades between affordable education. It's a sacrifice none of us chose to make but here we are, paying interest for decades until we die.

Also, checking my privilege now that I have a house and 2 credit cards I dont really care about my credit anymore so there's definitely been days I've thought about just not paying anymore and letting them all go to collections and saying idgaf. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've been lucky enough to have a mother-in-law who is able to watch my one year old while we are at work and the other kids are in school. If we had to pay for his daycare one of us would probably just have to quit working because it would be like we were working just to send him to daycare.

I wonder what would happen if every American with student loan debt just stopped paying them at the same time? (They'd probably just garnish all of our wages)

That would be an awesome rebel uprising if everyone just defaulted. I bet a lot of people care too much about their credit to do something like that, but it'd be funny and sure make a statement. I don't know if it's legal for them to garnish wages for student loans.

I'll be honest - that was my first thought. I'll be the first to agree with the Bernie mentality of anyone working 40 hours a week should be able to support a family, but we just aren't at that point as a society. All the more reason why family planning programs need to be supported rather than repressed, among plenty of other things.

I don't think there's a compassionate way to put this, but didn't you know prior to having children that it would be challenging, if not impossible, to support them? If you have no desire to answer this question, just tell me to fuck off.

Has there been a study of how white, rich people deal with school vs everyone else? Do their grades reflect how easy their lives are at all? I feel like no, because there are still probably a bunch of boneheads no matter what.

I think the obvious answer to this is pregnancy happens. People will not stop having sex just because they can't afford a child. Attempting to scare, coerce, or whatever is wrong and futile.

Edit: also why places like Planned Parenthood and women's clinics are so important. Had I kept it when I got pregnant at 22 I'd be living in my mother's house with a shitty job. That was my choice and I am very happy I stuck with it, because I knew I couldn't afford it. But you can't force anyone to believe that way, too.

I stopped going to college at the point I would have had to taken on debt. I've got an OK job now, but it feels like a lose-lose situation.
