Yesterday I shared the body slamming article on my grandma's Facebook timeline and she commented with a single word: "Provoked."

    It's prolly gonna be gianforte

Current results don't really matter a whole lot. What's more important is what sections of the state have already reported and what those results are. The areas still left to report favor Gianforte

I would love if journalists and publications just quit completely so people could see how stupid they are

Maybe when he gets elected, antifa will do an Enziguri on him.

Only parts of the counties have been reported as far as I can tell...no counties all the way reported yet

I've already come to terms with Montana because I've accepted that Americans are overwhelmingly racist, the fascists always win, and everything sucks

We’ve gotten some questions and comments from readers to the effect of: What are you stupid? How can you say a Democrat losing by several percentage points good for the party?

It’s a fair question. At the end of the day, Democrats need to win Republican-held seats to take back the House. But Montana’s seat wouldn’t be a top pickup opportunity. There are 120 Republican-held seats that lean more Democratic on the presidential level than Montana’s. So looking at the Montana race by itself isn’t helpful if you’re interested in the national picture.

Instead, we look at how much better Quist is doing than we’d expect given the presidential lean in Montana. If he loses by say 8 points. It means he outperformed Montana’s default political lean — how it would vote in a presidential election that was tied nationally — by 13 points. There are 64 GOP-held seats that are 13 points redder than the nation as a whole or less. Now, Democrats likely won’t win all 64, but that’s why a mid-single digit loss for a Democrat in Montana suggests that a lot of seats are in play for them in 2018.

This country is so, so fucked. I haven't felt right since November. I was hoping that feeling would have left by now.

  14. I think it was a pipe dream to think Montana would go blue so soon but it's good to know that it's moving in that direction

Or, yeah, it's pretty fucked when the politician that body slams a reporter actually gains support from doing it

Yeah this is where the whole "Result is still okay because if we perform like this across the board in 2018 we'll still be good" kinda falls flat. 2018 is still 18 months away. So wins between now and then would really help.

The part that makes me think there is no real progress to be made within the current system is the sheer number of people happy with this direction. As a country, we've jumped the shark.

I don't think Gianforte gained any support for his actions. Unfortunately, I don't think he lost any either.

Was hoping Quist could keep it to a 5 point loss. Looking like it'll be more in the 7-10 range. Still outperforming where a Dem should be in that state.

If Oseff wins, it'll be 3 red districts run, 2 lost by Bernie dems and 1 won by a moderate Dem....Not exactly what you want to see if you're hoping to swing the party left after an election loss.

Means gotta turn some heavy blue districts into Bernie Dems.

Some hope on Quist closing the gap: No reports from Glacier or Silver Bow counties, both won by Clinton in 2016.

Lol, not enough people in those counties to make the difference, unfortunately.
