  1. YES. Mercenaries is the stand out track on that record. I don't revisit it often, though.

I think those are the ones I revisit from that album. Been a while though

I thought Anomaly was interesting. I liked that and a couple other songs on Dreamwalker. Had no urge to listen to it in a long time though.

I always try to get into TDW but I feel like there was a lot of problems with it and it really hasn't aged well. I'm not a fan of the production on it, but my main gripes is that all the lyrics are complete nonsense . I know this kinda started happening with the LOVE series but this is just bonkers on a whole other level. I have no clue what the fuck he is talking about. The other is that I have no idea what he's saying, with the way the vocals were mixed, I can barely understand him.

This is really specific but it reminds me of the scene in School of Rock where a montage is playing video of old concerts alternating with the kids practicing. I can't remember what song is actually playing but I think it's similar. Honestly the chorus sounds like a song you'd find playing over hundreds of tv/movie montages haha

Yeah I don't necessarily think the production is bad, mostly a lot of bad choices. But it really hurts the album.

I didn't like Dream Walker quite as much as I did past AVA albums. There were some great tracks on it though, my favorites being Tunnels, Kiss With A Spell, & Bullets In The Wind. If the next AVA album is more in the Chasing Shadows direction I'd be stoked since I absolutely loved that EP. I'll be happy no matter what though, more music from Tom always makes me happy.:alien:

Late to the conversation but I'm baffled at the dislike for this new Goldfinger sound, but the love for California. They're exactly the same. Literally put Matt or Mark's vocals over that song and it's California. The vocals are the only difference.

I like it, Feldmann knows how to write a catchy chorus.

Which is totally fine to like it. I personally don't, but I also don't like California. A few pages back I noticed a lot of the same people that have been defending California since it's release were shitting all over this song and it could literally be on California.

Yeah i see what you mean. I also really like California and the deluxe and this song sort of feels like a continuation of that sound, which is totally fine by me. The thing i like about Cali (and blink/pop punk in general) is how it makes me feel the sun is shining, it's summer and the good times are here! Even in the middle of winter blink always gives me that summer vibe.

I just saw somebody caling Bottom of The Ocean a 'Hollywood Undead ripoff'. Is it just me or is that a laughably bad comparison

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

When there are two discs of the California sound, and old good Goldfinger doesn't sound like blink, I don't find it that baffling if someone doesn't want new Goldfinger to just be a continuation of that (thankfully it sounds like Jason says there's plenty of more Goldfinger sounding stuff on the record.) Also I don't think anybody in here has said California is perfect. I personally borderline hate Parking Lot at this point, Wildfire is meh, I'm pretty sick of She's Out Of Her Mind, The Only Thing That Matters never did much for me, etc. I realize pop-punk is a simple genre, but since I like California a lot, I just want the "Feldmann California filter" slapped over all pop-punk from here on out? Lol no. It's not a ground breaking album for the genre.

Specifically to this Knife song, I don't care for the vocal pattern in the verses. Is the song awful? No. But it does nothing for me just like the handful of songs I mentioned. I'm baffled by the blanket "You like California? Than you'll like this" assertion lol. I don't want a Goldfinger song that sounds like Feldmann kept a blink song for himself and than sang over it. I don't think that's that odd?

For that matter, virtually all of the people in here don't want more of the California sound for even the next blink record sooo yeah.

I'm not taking shots at anyone, you should know that. To me, they just sound really similar so it was just surprising to see the "hey I can get down with this!" when it was blink doing it, but now that it's Goldfinger those tables have turned.

I certainly get that people have their issues with California, but overall, this thread has been pretty accepting of the sound and excited about new music from them. So yeah, that's where my comment comes from.

The thread has been pretty accepting but I think we also really want the band to do something new on the next release. If blink released that Goldfinger song as their own in like 2018 or something I'm pretty sure everyone would complain that the sound is tired

I agree with this. I'm sure you guys know I am accepting/have loved the California era, but in 2018 I'd prefer to head in a different route in the lines of Last Train Home on the deluxe but perhaps pushed even further.
