I think in 2017 anything Tom did under the BCR name would sound like Letters to God Part 2 instead of Letters to God.

Idk. He might be over that. In the interview he mentioned working on new music that was closer to BCR than AVA.

Not knocking him at all, but I feel like he has said that before in the past and what came about was closer to AvAs normal sound. I could be wrong

I mean I guess it's possible that he's back to more of a harder sounding sound but I have issues taking anything that Tom says at face value until I see the finished product.

I just have my doubts because it's been 15 years and his musical style and influences have changed so much since then. Not sure that 2002 Tom is around anymore. But I truly welcome to be wrong.

I think now my ideal scenario would be Blink continuing with Skiba for another record and Tom recording/touring with Box Car Racer. But only if he loses his ego and gets a producer.

After that dig at blink about working with Feldmann, the odds of this are in the millions-to-one

  10. AvA Doesn't really have a "normal" sound anymore. But I kinda get what you're saying.

See, I don't care what he does at this point because I feel like mostly everything he makes nowadays sounds so similar. I think he would have had to do some serious growing as a musician but he's admitted he's hardly even been playing so I doubt that's happened.

Let's be honest, he could just write the same old stuff but do it in F# minor and use distortion instead of delay and boom! Box Car Racer.

Does anyone else hear Feldmann on vocals in Misery during the "I don't need anyone!" starting around 2:10 in the song? I know it's Skiba but it almost sounds like Feldmann is quietly in the mix to me too...Feldmann inserting his own vocal tracks to blink songs, new conspiracy theory!

I felt that way about "No Future", honestly. The whole "They don't caaaare" part sounds just like him whether it actually is or not.

Haha nice! I think that goes back to people saying it sounds like Goldfinger. If you've listened to enough Goldfinger you may pick up certain Feldmann production techniques things he might have suggested trying and it ends up "sounding like Goldfinger" if that makes sense?

I could see him telling Skiba to sing that part a certain way, inflecting various syllables etc. Which is from my understanding something a producer would do. "This isn't working, try singing it more like this"

You can definitely hear his influence in some inflections and whatnot. Haven't been able to pick his voice out specifically in anything, wouldn't be a big deal to me. Bands have had tons of other people come in for background vocals and whatnot before. I think the last two Goldfinger records are garbage but I always liked his voice so it's whatever lol.

Yep, a lot of people kept saying that about a bunch of different parts of California, but "No Future" stuck out to me as being the most obvious. It actually sounds like the later Goldfinger records!

And yeah, like you said, his influence on vocal delivery is prevalent every once in a while. Matt's verse of "No Future" when he says "Smile and say goodbye!" reminds me of a specific Goldfinger song even. haha.

    Dlx is great btw.
Last Train Home is probably among the best post reunion songs.

And finally I can listen to a song called Last train home again w/o feeling bad.

Anyone actually see Box Car Racer live? They weren't that great and got booed when they only played 5 songs at the festival show i went to - Edgefest in Phoenix 2002. They played Instrumental and 4 other songs.

I did and it was the first time I realized Tom was not a good singer haha. I also remember they played There Is as a full band with electric guitars and thought that was odd. Still glad I was able to them though.

I saw them twice and loved every moment of it all. Tim Armstrong played with them on Cat Like Thief at the first show I saw at the Whiskey

  21. i saw them in SLC and got their set list at the end of the set.

Crazy to me that Can't Get You More Pregnant is a rehash that serves the exact same purpose as Brohemian Rhapsody on the real album.

Also my favorite is now BOTO

    I'm flailing now.

I didn't see BCR, but I saw AVA's first show at this tiny place in Pomona and he played There Is while the band took a break. Sounded great.

I saw them with NFG in Boston. I thought they were both great. Watching vids of BCR they probably weren't. Lol but I was right against a speaker and didn't know any better haha.

I guess what pisses me of about these bcr posts of tom is that it became very very clear from 2011-2015 that he was not into writing or playing "punk" music anymore but now teases new BCR. Like, what would that sound like? Probably like AvA or it would sound dishonest.

Also he said multiple times that AvA and BCR are the same project, just under a different name. So why then tease BCR?

It all sounds like a grab for attention to me.
