@nothingsforeverdude 's mix was full of a mixture of bands that I knew and enjoyed already (Bright Eyes, The Hotelier, The Sidekicks, Sonic Youth, Pavement) bands that I'd sort of heard of / knew a little bit of before (TWIABP, Joyce Manor, Piebald, The Mountain Goats) and bands that I'd never heard of before (the rest of it!).

It all kind of lo-fi, emotional punky stuff, which I enjoy. There's some fantastic passionate stuff on here, and I love the general spontaneity and just pure joy of this type of music. It just sounds so vital and so alive, like they've got to got it recorded before they lose it forever. That kind of energy and vibrancy makes up for the sometimes a bit iffy songwriting.

It was nice to hear a new Hotelier song, hadn't heard any of their odd songs outside of the albums, so that was a pleasant surprise! Like everybody else, I'm eager to hear their new album! I was a big fan of the Cymbals Eat Guitars song too, I'd heard their name pop up a few times in conversation before, but had never actually heard a track, so it was good to put a sound to the name!

I also liked the slightly lower-key way this mix finished, with the more mellow combo of Pavement and Mountain Goats leading into one of my favourite Bright Eyes songs. Road to Joy is such a lovely song, I love the way it ends I'm Wide Awake on such an emphatic, exuberant note, and it has the same function here. Never fails to put a smile on my face.

Finishing the mix up with a Sonic Youth track is a nice way to close too.

I'd say the mix maybe loses steam a wee bit in the middle, when some of the bands blur into one a tad to me, but it ends very well, and there's some great highs along the way! Great stuff!

I really enjoyed @ChaseTx 's mixtape, I also thought about starting with an (alt-)country mixtape, but I changed my mind at the last second. It has both classics (Old 97's, Drive-By Truckers, Lucero) and some more obscure stuff as well. First track by Jollie Holland sets the mood quite well, what a nice song!

Actually my favorite part were the occasional indie rock tunes, gave the mixtape a good change of pace, otherwise it would have been a bit dull. Loved White Reaper (hadn't heard them before, definitely gonna check them out), Speedy Ortiz and Japandroids - they were exactly in the right spots. Overall flow was good, didn't seem like random collections of songs at all.

To criticize something. I probably would have ended the mixtape with Memoryhouse. Last two tracks (by Justin Townes Earle and Sturgill Simpson) were great, but they seemed in a wrong place after the warm synthpop of Memoryhouse. Would have been a good last song. Thanks for the mixtape!

Glad you enjoyed it! A bunch of the indie tracks are random finds that I still need to dig more into, but it seemed to be a good fit. The alt-country stuff is the bulk of what I've been listening to lately.

It's funny you say it flowed well. I didn't get the chance to sequence them how I wanted to, so they are just in the order I added them. I was going to go back and fix that when I get a chance, but maybe I don't have as much work to do there as I thought.

    Thanks for listening!

@bedwettingcosmo - I liked this mix a lot. It flowed well and I loved the overall vibe. I was only familiar with Stars and, to a lesser extent, Pinegrove, so there were lots of good discoveries here!
Favourite discoveries from this mix: Parenthetical Vibes, Sales, Be Still Cody, Cleanup (got serious Local Natives vibes from them), Crying, and Pedestrian

Fun fact, the Shad and TPC EPs were both named after this Smashing Pumpkins album:

@siim really liked the variety in this mix. I think nothing feels out of place because it never really gets into a specific groove. My favorite tracks of the bunch are Advantage Lucy and Natalia Lafourcade. I enjoyed it all though. Everything here is new to me, so I'm going to give it a few more listens.

Really enjoyed this mix. I hadn't heard a single one of these artists, so it was nice to check out some new stuff. I liked the balance of faster, rock-oriented tracks and more laid-back electronic stuff. A few that stood out to me:

Creeper - This band kind of reminded me of a faster, more punk-sounding My Chem. The doo-wop bridge in this song was completely unexpected and super cool.
Meg Myers - I've seen folks posting about her on this site recently, so it was nice to finally hear one of her tracks. I can see what the hype is about!
Spring King - This was a fun high-energy track, and the sax solo at the end rips haha. Can't go wrong with that.
Fatherson - This was my favorite track here. Great melodic and anthemic song that was right up my alley. I'm going to be checking out more from these guys ASAP.

Overall, not a bad song in the bunch. Thanks a lot for the mix!

Glad that you liked it. I didn't want to start with a specific genre mixtape, so I put it together quite randomly. At one point I even had two house tracks in the mix, but I abandoned them quite quickly. I had an idea for the first and last song, but that was all, then it just kind of started to come together. I was worried until the end about the flow, but cool that it didn't bother you.

Listened to @alert=danger 's mix because he said it was short and I don't have much time this evening ha. First off, how do you live with this tagging structure!? No artists, just everything included in the song title. Terrifying. I knew Fatherson (who are super awesome) and Meg Myers beforehand.

I agree with the above user who says that Creeper remind them of a more punk My Chem, they definitely have that kind of camp, shlocky b-movie vibe to them, that's super fun. I was a big fan of the electro stuff here too, like the Jacques Green or Mura Masa tracks. I enjoyed the bombastic Krrum track a lot too.

There was lots of energy to this mix, going between rockier stuff, electronic stuff and just pure dancy stuff. I had a real blast listening to it. There's not a lot of cohesion to it, it definitely feels a bit thrown together, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The pace of the mix is great, nothing dragging or slowing it down. I enjoyed practically every song on here, and will definitely be checking out Creeper, Jacques Green and Mura Masa further.

I had @figureitout's mix for the exchange.

I really enjoyed this; definitely felt the springtime vibe, which I appreciated, since mine is probably more summer-y. I also liked how much of this was female singer/songwriter stuff, most of which I was unfamiliar with. A few artists here I definitely want to hear more from, particularly Kay Hanley. Reminds me that I need to listen to more Metric, too.

You also did a great job at keeping this eclectic without losing cohesive. Those first five songs are all very different (with the Nina Simone Beatles cover being the big curveball), but I could definitely see how they fit into the theme and vision you were going for.

As far as artists I already know and love, great picks for Ryan Adams and The Head and the Heart. Rock N Roll gets to much flak in the RA discography, by "So Alive" is and has always been one of my favorite songs. Kudos for rescuing it. As for "Let's Be Still," I tend to think that record as very autumnal, but the title track has a nice lilting atmosphere to it that is ideal for a spring or summer day. In any case, that band is criminally underrated and I was glad to see someone use one of their songs on a mix. Hoping to hear something new from them soon.

@slim - Great mix! It had great variety but still flowed. I've never listened to any of these artists before, and I especially love that you included non-english speaking artists as well. Nunca Es Suficiente was definitely the stand out track for me, what a great tune.
