Pretty sure this is it, I thought Mark sounded good when I first watched this but the album seems cleaner on his first verse at least. Idk if they cleaned it up or rerecorded, it seems pretty close but I don't have the best ear for this kind of stuff lol.

So I've listened to the new DLX tracks quite a few times each now. I think out of all of them Bottom Of The Ocean is my favorite. Just a really cool song.

Finally listened to this after holding off on the leak. I'll just write my thoughts on the songs like I did when the original album came out as I'm sure nobody remembers

    1. Parking Lot- Don't understand the hate for this one at all. Matt is great, and though Mark's part isn't necessary it's still okay. I'm not really a lyrics guy so those don't really affect my enjoyment that much usually. 4/5

    2. Misery- Probably the best song on here. Matt again kills it but Mark's bridge is also fantastic and the melodies on here are great. 5/5

    3. Good Old Days- Really like this song, this is the kind of alternative/pop sound that they've always been really good at doing. Strong melodies and I like the unique chorus. 4.5/5

    4. Don't Mean Anything- The verses are good and the instrumental is solid but I'm not crazy about the hook at all. Bit too "generic pop-punk" for me. 3/5

    5. Hey I'm Sorry- Loved this song a year ago and still love it now. 5/5

    6. Last Train Home- Really enjoy the instrumental and overall vibe of this song. Would love for them to continue in this direction. 4.5/5

    7. Wildfire- Enjoyed it slightly more in context of the rest of the album but still a pretty weak song. 2.5/5

    8. 6/8- Fucking love this song. Awesome instrumental, fantastic chorus, and great performance from both Mark and Matt. One of the best on here. 5/5

    9. Long Lost Feeling- Really like how chill this song is. Very strong melodies in both the verses and chorus too. It seems like a kind of song I'd have to be in the mood for though. 3.5/5

    10. Bottom of the Ocean- LOVE the instrumental on here, and noticeably pretty good lyrics. Really appreciate the experimentation. 4.5/5

    11. Can't Get You More Pregnant- They somehow managed to make a joke song even less funny and more embarrassing than Brohemian Rhapsody. I'll give it a bonus .5 points for the kind of cool guitar part though. 1.5/5

    12. Bored to Death Acoustic- Would have actually preferred this to be a studio version, I feel like that could have been pretty cool. Maybe add some piano or something in the background. As it is here, it's a solid performance but nothing special. Still a 5/5 for the actual song but a 3/5 for this version in this context.

Overall this is a very solid entry into their discography I think. I really like the experimental tracks and darker vibe, and even though like I said before I don't usually put much stock in lyrics (especially for this band), I thought a lot of them were stronger than the ones on the OG album. I definitely agree with claims that they've taken the pop-punk sound of the OG and a few of the songs on here about as far as it can go (though I still really like Parking Lot and I fucking love Misery), and I really hope their next album continues in the great direction of songs like 6/8, Long Lost Feeling, Bottom of the Ocean, and Hey I'm Sorry, I feel like it has a lot of potential to match up with the Untitled album.

Overall I'd go about a 7.5/10 on this, slightly worse than the original album but very glad it exists for us to listen to.

Also I strongly disagree with putting songs from this and the original together to make one big album, I much prefer to think of them as two separate projects.

All I want from this band now is fun songs as I'm long past expecting anything on the level of the S/T. The deluxe definitely delivers.

Finished listening through this. Don't really see myself going back to these songs very much except for Bottom of the Ocean and Last Train Home. Hopefully they ditch that recycled guitar riff and joke songs here on out.

I'll give this a shot. Make this a thing lol. Bored today.

    1. Parking Lot- I liked this song when it first dropped, and while I still do I find myself preffering most of the other songs over it; but I still like it. I like the guitar, matt's vocals and while Mark could do better his verse kind of connects to nostalgic memories I have just like Matts' does on s different level. 3.5/5

    2. Misery- Not only my favorite song off the deluxe but in my top 5 of the California era for sure. It's catchy, and both Matt and Mark are great on it. Mark does his deeper singing voice, which I love, and that bridge is great and fun to sing with. 5/5

    3. Good Old Days- This is one I know I shouldn't like. I know that it's kind of overly poppy even for my tastes, but something about it keeps me coming back, mostly the chorus which I for some reason adore. I'll Call it a guilty pleasure but a pleasure none the less. 4/5

    4. Don't Mean Anything- Another song where I absolutely love the chorus, Mainly Mark's 'middle of the road' prt. The verses I don't really connect with but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy them. I still come back to this one. 3.5/5

    5. Hey I'm Sorry- I find it hard to remind myself it's a Deluxe track since we've had it since OG California came out, but I still love it as much as I did then. Especially that final Chorus where the music drops and Travis just hits heavy on those drums. 5/5

    6. Last Train Home- THIS. Out of all the songs we didn't hear before the release, this is the one I like the most. I also like it a lot in general, up there with Misery. It's darker, and it's what I was wanting Matt/Mark to sound like on at least some songs. It contains my favorite line of the deluxe "the only time I feel alive...". 5/5

    7. Wildfire- I liked this one a bit more when it first dropped, and while I still like it I will say it is the weakest of the songs on the album. It's saving grace is the guitar riffs, those I love. 3/5

    8. 6/8- The moment Mark talked about this song when the OG California came out and he was discussing some songs that didn't make the album I wanted this song. We got it now and I am so glad I did. Once again both Mark and Matt sounds great, the song is just in your face non stop right up there with Stockholm or Easy Target. And that bridge from Skiba has to be my favorite part, I love singing along with it. 5/5

    9. Long Lost Feeling- Another great track. It's an emotional song, one that I will admit I connect to on a personal level and have gotten goosebumps to when I really stopped and listened. I've heard some say that it never explodes like it should but I think it's great the way it is; its somber and beautiful. 4.5/5

    10. Bottom Of The Ocean- This one seems to be kind of controversial on here. I personally love it. It gets stuck in my head, I love Mark and Matts exchanges at the build up to the chorus, and it's darker and different. It resonates with me from a period of my young adulthood when I was in a depressive state for a couple years. I like the different sound, and i appreciate them branching the sound out a bit. 4.5/5

    11. I Can't Get You More Pregnant- It's a joke song. I don't really care to rate these; they're there to be funny some hit some miss. I usually skip them unless I am listening to the album in full anyways. NA/NA

    12. Bored To Death(acoustic)- An acoustic version of a song I give a 5 off OG. This particular version is nice, though I'd prefer if it had been a studio version. It's really just a bonus. 3/5

And that's it. 4/5 overall, love the extension to California and hope they continue some of the darker tones of the DX

  17. The second half of the chorus in Don't Mean Anything sounds like the bridge in San Diego, right?

Sounds like a stretch to me but if somebody wants to try hard enough you could probably find any singular part of a blink song that you can say sounds like another.

Surprised to see no mention of how brickwalled the deluxe is. It's painfully evident during the chorus of "Last Train Home" and "Don't Mean Anything," the cymbals actually sound distorted because they're peaking so much.

  21. yeah, i think it's quite a bit louder than the original album's songs.

  22. I also kinda feel like the chorus to "good old days" is very reminiscent of "the middle" by Jimmy Eat World.

I wish they did a studio acoustic version of "Bored To Death" instead of a show version, I really like it when Matt sings the "Oh Oh's" and you can hardly hear him with the audience singing them.
