That one seems to be the favorite among people who don't like the album

I really like this. A lot. The title track is beautiful, Sorry For Now REALLY should be a single at some point, Chester and Mike both sound incredible on most of these tracks. I dig how the guitar is layered in the mix, more flavor than the dominant ingredient. It's definitely better than the their last two and first two albums IMO

As of now I'd only put this above The Hunting Party but we'll see when I've had it for longer.

    It's all a bit nothingy.
The verses are all very similar and then there's a breakdown pre-chorus and a chorus that offers very little. I imagine half the songs having a tiesto or hardwell bear underneath and then a big drop in the chorus. Which would honestly make them more interesting.

Do or do not, there is no try.

I have no issues with bands changing up sound, genres, experimenting, whatever - but this album can get chucked in the pile that I'm 90% sure FOB's new album will be going on. Not even remotely enjoyable for me.

Wow, I think I was thirty-five seconds into the first song before I started laughing at how ridiculous this sounds. I'm all for a band maturing, progressing, changing and haven't ever expected HT2.0 or even Meteora 2.0 but they sound like they regresssed to what teenagers want to hear now with this sound. Sure I am only one track in (two if you count the single) but my God.

I think the heart of the issue lies with the songwriting, which has been on a downswing for this band even since Living Things. I think it was simply concealed last time around by the return to roots gimmick they had going. Now the arrangements are far less interesting and there's just nothing to grab onto.

I'm about halfway in and some of the vocals are surprisingly catchy but yea nothing particularly memorable

Going through this now, about half way through. I don't think it's bad, but I'll need more time with it to decide if it's going to have much staying power. Also worth noting I'm about as casual of a fan as it gets, and it's been years since I've done any serious listening. Talking to Myself is a fantastic song though, I know that. (Battle Symphony... not so much).

    This is fun.

Only listened to the album once, I don't think it's really bad as a pop album but need more time with it.

I definitely think the songwriting is generally improved from the last album.

It's hard for me to compare, esp this album and Hunting Party. They are sooo different. Comparing this to other pop songs they've done like In The End, Burn It Down and Waiting for The End, I think One More Light holds up.

It's also harder to write a full album of this style as opposed to a song or two on an album, but I think they do a decent job here. Wouldn't call it a great pop album but the results are good considering it's a very different type of record for them.

Sharp Edges sounds like a One Direction song to me haha (I'm not saying that in a negative way though, I like the song).

The comparison I've seen is Mumford (and I agree)

I dunno, I think people undersell how great of a voice Chester has. Even though the music is electronic, so far there is a lot to it and layered. And Mike is great in the little bit he does vocal wise. The hate for this album will pass over time I think, I remember the same kind of hate for ATS after it was first released.

Yeah, it drives me crazy that people are acting like the songs are more basic just because theyre poppier. Thought this site was above that kind of thinking

I wish they'd go back to their Take This to Your Grave sound. Ah wait, wrong band! Seriously though, I feel like the fan base responses are similar between Heavy and Young and Menace.

Didn't love the album. It's better than Hunting Party IMO but it's not an incredible album by any means. I feel like some songs had a lot of potential but never peak emotionally. Agree with @FTank that the second half is much stronger.

haha, you can't judge a whole site because some people don't like this album. I get where you are coming from, but I've learned to not let it bother me when people just make hyperbole statements. That being said, it'll be nice when the "this sucks" comments fade away and people can actually discuss the songs.

Oh, it doesn't bother me at all that people don't like it, I know LP is generally gonna be unpopular on this site. But the pop being inherently simple/bad takes drive me up the wall.

for sure, esp since so many other pop acts that are simple/bad get praised. To each their own though, it doesn't stop my enjoyment.

Near the tail end of the album I said to myself: "This is a bad attempt at pop-edm" style record" and then the Mumford & Sons track came on. Holy shit. This really is terrible.

There's nothing EDM about this lol

I didn't hear any Mumford influence. Thought it sounded like LP doing a pop record. Wasn't terrible, but I didn't particularly care for it.
