Last Train Home was what I was kind of expecting a Hoppus/Skiba collab to sound like

    Love that song

I like Rabbit Hole. I really killed the song before California came out and it took me a long time to really get back to it. My favorites on Cali were always rotating throughout the last year, like one time it would be Rabbit Hole, Only Thing and SOOHM. Most recently it was HISALP, Los Angeles and Sober.

First thoughts after one listen: Pre-release singles are better when listening to the full thing.

"Don't Mean Anything" pleasantly surprised me, even though it suffered from some generic lyrics like a lot of these tracks.

"Hey I'm Sorry" stood out to me more than when we got it shortly after California released. Solid track, should have been on the OG if you ask me.

"Last Train Home" intro riff reminds me of The National, "I need my girl" - another really solid song.

"Wildfire" still sucks, awful lyrics. Just seems so disingenuous to me. Hard for me to even listen to the full song. I really hope they got these kind of songs out of their system at this point.

"6/8" intro reminds me of WATT-era Thursday which is dis-orienting for a blink song haha. Not really a fan of this one either. Chorus is grating to me. Verses slightly better. Song drags for me and it's only 3:48.

"Long Lost Feeling" is awesome. Could be my favorite thing they've done so far. Gives me hope for future releases and while reminiscent of the "California sound" it seems more interesting and mature for me for whatever reason. Good work all around on that one. Song actually breathes, it's not packed with unnecessary na, na's etc. and is that a guitar riff during the outro?!

"Bottom of the Ocean" delivers on the promise of +44 combined with Alkaline Trio. More of this please! Bass sounds great in 2nd verse too, Nice job Mark! Not sure if this actually has better lyrics or I'm just not paying attention to them as much because the song is more interesting and less simplistic.

Joke song is fine for what it is. Not how they should continue to end records if you ask me.

I know no one asked for it, but there ya go, my first impressions!

Also since I missed the ATST discussion: It was one of my favorite songs on Enema the day Enema came out. As it became their biggest single, I liked it less and less, but I still like it. Overplayed, but a good song.

Holy crap you and I agree on some shit here; is the world ending?

Kidding glad to hear you liked some of them on first impression. You left out Good Old Days though!!

Haha, I tried to include enough "positives" so you wouldn't come after me lol. "Good Old Days" didn't make much of an impression on first listen, but that may change. More bad lyrics about "peter pan syndrome"

I watched that spotify doc. or whatever about the "Green Day - Early years" last night and when they mention American Idiot, and how GD successfully reinvented themselves on that record, the dude from Pansy Division talks about how BJA went from writing lyrics about his own life, to writing from the perspective of a fictional character. I'm not saying Blink/Mark has never done that, but I think that might benefit the lyrics greatly going forward. Just something I found interesting that I think is relevant to discussion here...

but really, i don't understand the love for any of them... haha. i don't LOVE any of the deluxe songs. but if i had to name all of the songs that i LOVE from this whole era, i'd only pick "She's Out Of Her Mind" and "Bored To Death."

I would prefer a lot of these to the main album. My ideal tracklist would've been:

    1. Cynical
    2. Bored to Death
    3. Wildfire
    4. Hey, I'm Sorry
    5. Sober
    6. Los Angeles
    7. No Future
    8. Last Train Home
    9. Good Old Days
    10. Teenage Satellites
    11. Left Alone
    12. Misery
    13. San Diego
    14. The Only Thing That Matters
    15. Long Lost Feeling

Sounds like something written for ATL or 5SoS. Like you can tell it had song writers on it.

Man, what a world we live in where song writers write songs!

*outside of Mark, Matt and Travis. The guy who was on that track has numerous pop credits.

The track just doesn't 'sound' like blink.

  22. regardless of having co-writers on it, it's just not a good song. it's like a glorified song idea or something. but yeah, i don't get it.

  23. Mannnnn, that bridge in "Parking Lot" is so awesome

That's the only one that hasn't really clicked for me.

  25. "bottom of the ocean" is just soooo not blink. not into that one at all.
"long lost feeling" goes nowhere. it sounds like it's starting to build up at the end, but then just stops and it's over.

those are the two i dislike the most right now
