FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Lol it's funny to me how bent out of shape people get over what Matt can sing. The song is blatantly personal to Mark, who cares if the guy in the band with him now sings a part of it? As a band it's one of the more genuine songs they've ever produced. Just as dumb as "Oh Wishing Well is such a personal song to Tom, how dare Matt sing it" well Tom couldn't be bothered to stick around to perform it and fans like it. End of story.

  2. That bass line/ tone is everything I've missed from the new stuff.

I actually do think Mark should have sang San Diego and that they shouldn't play Wishing Well anymore but that's just my preference

That bass in SOOHM is straight up First Date. Very throwback to Mark's classic tone.

Also, plenty of bands write songs from fictionalized perspectives that still feel totally real and genuine to listeners. The idea that someone needs to live exactly what they're singing about for the song to work is weird.

Besides the fact that Tom wrote Wishing Well how is it such a personal song to him? I thought Tom wrote that song while waiting to pick his kids up from school and was one of the last songs the band recorded for Neighborhoods. Is there more to the story as to why it's so personal to him?

It was basically supposed to be his bromance apology to Mark and Travis I guess

    Things have changed.

It's about his time leaving Blink and going off and doing Angels stuff.

Yeah I don't know honestly. Just that so many times I've seen people get super offended that anybody but Tom would sing that song specifically. I don't really get it. That and Not Now seem to be the songs that should be illegal for Matt to play lol.

If he wanted it to be a sincere and personal song that only he can perform, he shouldn't have been singing about stars burning holes through his hand and shit

Matt singing about "going back to San Diego" when he in fact is from Chicago comes off as insincere. If you can stomach it, more power to you.

Bottom of the Ocean is obviously about visiting the Wishing Well that sank to the ocean floor. The dots are all connecting here people. IT'S ALL STARTING TO MAKE SENSE.

I bet they didn't even go to the bottom of the ocean floor. I can't take the disingenuous nature anymore

I never really thought about it much. I always took it as a symbolic representation of "home." Mark obviously has ties and I think Matt's contributions are just tapping into similar feelings. I never considered it as disingenuous.

Oh I get it now. It's disingenuous for Matt to sing Wishing Well because it was a disingenuous song that Tom wrote.

...are we REALLy complaining if a song is about something the artist actually did? That's ridiculous.

Did Tom really dance on tree tops?

Did Gerard Way really join a parade of death ghosts traveling through the after life??

Did REM really experience the end of the world and feel fine?

I can play this game all day.

The band even says "were blink-182 from Los Angeles" at shows which I think is funny. They played San Diego's local radio show in December and the hosts were making such a big deal about them being local when they all pretty much identify with LA
