Travis let me take a picture with him when security said no so he's a nice guy in my eyes lol

 

I take back what I just said than aha.

 

Travis is actually a really cool dude. He's quiet and likes to hang off to the side but super polite and approachable

 

Plus, Travis survived a plane crash. I think he is allowed to rub people the wrong way if he really wanted to haha.

 

Finally got to listen to the whole thing (only listened to Parking Lot before).

I do not know if it's a good or bad thing the Bored to Death acoustic version was the most rewarding experience of this album for me?

Misery is easily the best song on here. I heavily enjoyed the attempt to stray a "bit" from the path on Last Train Home and Long Lost Feeling.

If we did not already get 16 songs of this sound, songs such as Don't Mean A Thing or Wildfire would have given me a bit more interest...but that sound has been done to death.

Overall I had miserable expectations for this and I did not hate it as much as I expected. Next time I would prefer the lyrics were not written in 5 minutes so ideas, themes, and messages could be developed. The songs all lack lyrical depth which will negate me from revisiting this as often as I want to.

On to the next one...hopefully with a new producer, sound, and ambition!

 

Sounds like I'm in the minority but "Bottom Of the Ocean" is probably one of my favourites from the deluxe. I appreciate that they tried something different, and whilst not everything worked, it's something I can get into.

 

i like that song too. the chorus makes up for everything else i may not like about the song. it was actually a good song to run to today.

 

Count me in the liking that one group. I like Good Old Days and Last Train Home more but BOTO might get 6th if we're counting Misery, 6/8, Sorry and the other pre release tracks

 

Ah so that IG Valentine's post blink made was the Good Old Days intro haha. It's as insanely catchy as SOOHM was when I first heard it but I think this'll have more staying power for me. Love it.

Man, reactions to the DLX were slow but fierce in here. Misery has grown in me a lot but the bridge is still the best part. And sorry @bradsonemanband - I also love the fuck out of BOTO

 

They mentioned in an interview that Patrick from Fall Out Boy gave them the line "I'm a dandelion, you're a four leaf clover".

I'd rather a band collaborate with someone they are featuring as guest vocals, but if it's someone they want to really work with it's kinda hard to tell them not to. I'd rather a more personal approach, but again, they've been hugely successful with this album cycle so....

 

I don't really like any of these new songs but Wildfire still stands out as especially terrible

 

Had a chance to listen to the whole deluxe edition portion today. Not too sure if I enjoy it as much as California. Maybe it's because it's just an extension. The songs are still good - but I think I have to listen to the WHOLE thing in one sitting to see how I feel about it. Whole thing meaning California following into the deluxe.

Man, I love skibas vocals in the first verse of Last Train Home

 

I don't think I could honestly ever listen to the original and deluxe one after another. It would be exhausting

Just heard it and I'm just gonna say I enjoy it all I'm glad we got new music after all the broken promises made ha I'm certain they will write some cool shit in the future they played it safe on this one

 

I will say that I find it easier to listen to DLX from front to back than the OG, probably cause it's shorter, but it also doesn't feel like it drags.. on the OG I'm pretty burnt out by No Future or HISALP

 

I think Long Lost Feeling is beautiful and don't get the comments about the song needing to explode or whatever. That would be the predictable thing to do when I'm pretty sure people have been complaining they've been too predictable lol. Currently my favorite on the deluxe, wouldn't change anything about that one.

 

The melody in that song is the best melody on the DLX.

 

I don't get it either I like the song as is. And I love the ending to it
