Io still has the Stardom title. She'll probably drop it in her next defense which looks like it will be a title vs title match.

The thing about TNA holding the #BROKEN stuff hostage is that it is nothing more than posturing. It's not like WWE are trying to purchase the existing footage, or to stop them from further monetizing the existing content. It's not like the fans would do anything but turn on them if they tried to force the gimmick on someone else. It's not like they're losing money by having what is clearly a hot commodity to them on WWE programming so they can take to social media and scream "Tune into POP and see where the BROKEN saga began!". It's just a case of "I don't have to, so I'm not going to".

WWE has worked with TNA before. There was the Flair/Christian swap for HoF inductions in the past. It's bad when your diplomacy is worse than it was under Dixie Carter's regime.

 

It's about fucking them over and the wwe would do and have done the exact same thing several times

 

Most of those instances are
1) Gimmicks that WWE creative built from the ground up and assigned to the talent
2) From a period where x person could run to a TNA on the rise and actually have a chance at competing with them

And in any case, WWE has only ever cared about names. Johnny Mundo was still John Morrison in all but name. Same with Team 3D, etc. The gimmick was not compromised, just the title they were slapping on posters to promote shows. TNA could make money from the Hardys using the gimmick in WWE, via both a licensing agreement as well as getting 2-3 million new viewers' eyes on the gimmick that they will shortly be selling a "greatest hits" DVD of.

 

TNA may be making a good "moral" decision for themselves, but a batshit dumb business move. All the gimmick does in their hands is rot and lose relevence. Name me one instance where it would have been a good business move for WWE to let their IPs run wild on a show with less than half a million viewers. It's apples and oranges.
