Half is pretty good, the other is pretty bland. A lot of great drum grooves though, and No Friends is incredible. I had no idea Aaron was making an appearance.

 

WHYYYYYYYYY are Aaron's vocals so muted? I love him so damn much and want to be able to sing along.

I'm really digging the vaporwave influence on this record. I think it really sets them apart from the majority of the 80's synth renaissance thing happening in music right now.

 

this is weird to say, but the rhythmic pattern she is using in the verses is almost more hip hop than it is pop. i love it.

 

I've been revisiting MewithoutYou recently so "No Friend" was a pleasant surprise!!!!

The contrast between the energetic music and the devastating lyrics reminds me of Chase This Light and I'm 100% for it.

Every single time I listen to this album it's a new experience and I love it.

Fuck, this is a masterpiece.

So what are the references in no friends, anyone eagled eyed besides me? The obvious ones I caught are to Looking Up, Misguided Ghosts, Ankle Biters, That's What you get and Riot as a whole

 

odd to see dislike of this from the album release thread... lines like uninspiring lyrically, lacking guitar, and expecting bad sales are all... very confusing.

 

Better than some of the lyrics I googled earlier today:

"Scores of catatonic smile covered assholes in a ship"

I was like, "What the heck? That doesn't make any sense."

After two listens I'd say my favorite tracks excluding the singles are "Rose-Colored Boy," "Forgiveness," "Fake Happy," and "Tell Me How." The only song I'm not really feeling is "No Friends."

I'd probably already put this at the top of their discography as well. One of the few bands where I like each album better than the one before it.

I hate reading reviews for the record, not bc they are negative bc most arn't but bc of the way they all talk about Emo/pop punk as if its the worst genre of music in the world.

 

The chorus of "Pool" sounds like the soundtrack to a late 90's teen movie.

 

I just want to listen to the first three songs on repeat forever. I love the whole album but those songs just slay
